Flower Garden

by beth on June 25, 2009

It has taken us 6 years to plant flowers in our backyard. We have flowers in the front but never got around to planting the backyard before. We finally did it at the start of June.

I am looking for some other flowers to put in this area. I’d like to have at least 5 more. They would have to be full sun flowers. It is largely unshaded, with the pictures above being the most shade they would get for a few hours a day.

Anyone have suggestions on what flowers would be good?

I don't really have any ideas but I think the ones you do have planted are really pretty.

I'd like to suggest what we have done–we planted daylily bulbs–daylilies will grow in the sun and since their bulbs they will come again and again and will build up more bulbs. I like your site. saw your note on mom blogs network. Please look at my very new blog http://www.answersformoms.org. Thanks, KayDee

Primrose is a great spreading flower. Here is a link to some posts I have about plants (mostly perennials) I've used down in Charlotte: http://staceysbloghasgotitgoinon.blogspot.com/search/label/gardening

Marigolds and Zinnias are always a safe bet.

I love my pony tail grass {Mexican Feathergrass}. Best of all you can't kill it.
