Octo-Deal: More Reality Train Wrecks.

(remem­ber her inter­view with the Today Show after the babes were born)

If the train wreck of the Gosselin’s delu­sions over con­tin­u­ing Jon & Kate Plus 8 didn’t cause me to won­der what the heck the world was com­ing too (and that was before the recent teenage boy gone wild stylings of Daddy Gos­selin).  I’m think­ing the fact that I just read there’s an offi­cial real­ity TV deal that’s been inked for Nadya Sule­man, you know the woman given the infa­mous name of Octo-mom, will.

While I get that she has a fam­ily to sup­port, I don’t begrudge her try­ing to do that, & I don’t believe any of those kids should be denied help because their mother appears to be more than a tad flaky. I’m going to take the rad­i­cal step and sug­gest that film­ing these kids for cash isn’t the best par­ent­ing move. I don’t know, call me crazy.  At best it’s poor judg­ment & at worst it’s exploita­tive given how the paparazzi have already invaded these kids’ lives.  You know it will get worse with addi­tional TV expo­sure, these are JUST kids who already have a lot going against them.

How­ever, the cynic in me can’t help but pre­dict that once the world’s first sur­viv­ing Nonu­plets are born then the Octo­plets will fade into the background. This is because the media is using this sit­u­a­tion to take advan­tage of her cir­cum­stances, I assume that Nadya is rightly freak­ing out about what the future holds (I know I freak out about my own on occa­sions), but the media is in it for noth­ing but the media not her or the kids. So, leas­ing kids out to the media isn’t going to solve the long term prob­lems & when those Nonu­plets are born the stage is going change. No one car­ing any­more about them or their mother’s atten­tion seek­ing antics (have you seen those inter­views with her own mother?  talk about need­ing ther­apy!).  Just wait, because you know some­one some­where is try­ing for 9.
