Reading:
Look Me in the Eye: My Life with Asperger’s by John Elder Robison my Hubby bought this book for our plane ride to San Francisco. My Uncle came over after D-man was born with his sister my Aunt (they are my father’s siblings) and he mentioned that he had read it in a book club. He thought Hubby would like it. He was right because Hubby couldn’t put it down once he started reading it. It perked Hubby’s interest, given not only does Mr. J fall into this portion of the spectrum but so does Mr. G. Hubby finished it and passed it on to me. I highly recommend it from what I’ve read so far, it is really well written & very entertaining. I think more people should read this book because it could be a GOOD book for starting a conversation on Asperger’s & to open up people’s minds about the wider spectrum of autism.

Watching:
I’m a fashion wanna-be, even if lately most my days are spent in spit up bedazzled clothes. I love fashion and am impressed by those who are able to create art. Fashion is wearable art & by fashion I don’t mean running to the donut shop in your Sponge Bob pj pants, house-slippers, and an old Grateful Dead shirt with your hair ratted up in a pony tail that looked like a old man’s toupee died on your head (yeah that’s right I saw you). And because of this love of fashion I get sucked into Project Runway every year. This season is no different, even if it is in LA. LA is not NYC no matter how you cut it, but meh I’m still suckered in. I’m looking forward to more of the fashion backstabbing, runway sashaying, and all the unveiling of the collections at the final fashion throwdown. Oh and for designers around the world if your piece sucks don’t throw your model under the bus like last night it’s tacky & makes you a total d-bag.

I have had a couple students with Aspergers. The condition is very sad because the kids always think some one is picking on them when the other children are just being social with them. One had a parent who seemed to also have the condition. So, it was hard to explain to him that his child was not being picked on. All of these children were extremely good at math.

I know, I can’t believe he called out his model like that! But Heidi stuck up for her, that was awesome! That guy came of like a total DB.

Off like a total DB…I should really proof read.

John Elder Robison’s book was one of the first books I read after my son was diagnosed with AS in March of this year. Besides really helping me to understand the diagnosis, it was an amazing and entertaining story! Another great one is ‘Born on a Blue Day’.

Did you watch the all stars special? I’m still bitter about the outcome there.…

@ Eileen–that is one of the difficult things, it’s almost like a social dyslexia in some sense.
@ Andrea–definitely a good book & entertaining too
@Nancy– I’d recommend it to them to read too, everyone is different in how they experience this but it’s a really good account.

@thatgirlblogs–I know, LaLohan WTF. I couldn’t stop laughing when she claimed to be an expert on understanding what was appropriate on the red carpet.
@doula–total d-bag, hope he is next looks like he melts down next episode too. Heidi rocks.
@Laura–I’ll have to add that to my list. It’s my goal to read more for me & that would be right up my alley.
@Lisa– Yes, I did watch. I think it was fixed. Total scam. That suicide bomber looked was awful & I didn’t dig any aspect of the collection overall. Usually I like his work but not that collection.
