Reading:

The Vaccine Book: Making the Right Decision for Your Child (Sears Parenting Library)
by Robert Sears, M.D. F.A.A.P & What Your Doctor May Not Tell You About Children’s Vaccinations
by Stephanie Cave, M.D., F.A.A.F.P. & Deborah Mitchell. Both books offer information to help you make decisions about vaccinations. I like that the information is based on science and doesn’t discount the possible value vaccines can offer society, even if there are concerns about them. Good for parents who are wondering if they want to keep the current CDC schedule, delay vaccines, selectively vaccinate, use an alternative schedule, or not vaccinate at all. Really helping us in our own discussions on vaccinating options for our own family. Hubby has been reading, highlighting, and taken more interest in learning about health than I’ve ever seen before.

Listening:

My daughter attempting to sing AT THE TOP OF HER LUNGS!! TWINKLERRR TWINKLERRR LITTLER STARRRRRR!! (Not sure why she adds the “rs”, maybe artistic flair). But I must admit after hearing her shout her singing over & over & over & over again this morning I am worried that she will take after momma with her singing ability. Really praying that doesn’t happen. Since I can’t carry a tune in a bucket. Also, really praying I have more Tylenol (or really the generic Target brand because I’m cheap like that).

Watching:

The Snorks My children have discovered the joys of Snorkdom. To be young again. I’m loving that they are on Boomerang.

snorks

We need more underwater kids adventures that are really just The Smurfs
redux.

smurfs

But I still wonder why there was only one girl on The Smurfs & think the show jumped the shark after they added the baby Smurfs.  Kinda like what happened to Happy Days.

Ahhh Boomerang! My favorite cartoon channel! There is something to be said about cartoons from our days. Not a bunch of flash and anime, just good old fashioned (ew did I just reference our childhood as old fashioned?) cartoon fun!

I haven’t heard of the Snorks… I think probably becuase my kids are older? They look cute.

I’ve always been cautious about vaccinations. I tend to do a bunch of research first and limit the number of vaccinations given at one time.

I was never allowed to watch Smurfs as a kid. Now I’m curious.

@genny–i grew up w/ them. they are “retro” now

@faemom–it’s probably cuz your parents wondered why there was only 1 girl for all those guys. either Smurfette got around or she was a fag hag. maybe she wasn’t even a she, perhaps in drag? see there i go starting stuff again. now the Smurfs won’t be sending me a Christmas card this yr.
