The World Awaits In First Grade

by beth on September 1, 2009

Mr. J starts first grade next week & I’m remembering all the other firsts. It’s been that kind of day. A cool breeze in the air, taking in the last of summer and the breeze holds that first hint of crispness that heralds fall. I was looking at this picture of him around his first birthday and was amazed at how fast the time has already gone by.

The minutes to hours, the hours to days, the days become weeks, then months, season after season. Another fall is here. School is around the corner and the sun sets a little earlier. Like all things, with time there is change but constants remain. I know he will always be my baby, even if he’s grown so much already. Being your Mother’s baby is something you will always be. As a kid I never got that saying, but as a Mother I get that now.

I cannot wait to see what the world holds for him as he continues on this journey. A world of possibilities lay before him out this door. He is just waiting to get outside and explore it. First grade is a big step. He’ll be gone all day for the first time. He is excited, nervous, and looking forward to the start of school. So am I, but I know he’ll do well.

And on that first day. What I will see is what I’ve always seen. I will see my son the great Mr. J ready to conquer the world, with a smile on his face. Knowing that he can always come home to his family, his parents, and be loved.

Enjoy first grade my little man.

So sweet! My baby is 9. Makes me sad but I know they have to grow up. It just seems to go by too quickly.

First Grade is the best, well I think it’s up there with the 4th grade since the 4th grade is when you actually receive letter grades. My son is in the 4th grade and counting all his A’s. It’s so cute. But to me 1st grade was when, to me, my son actually started school (pre and K don’t really count as they are not required). So i was so happy and sad when my son started the 1st grade. So long ago, my how time flies.

first time here for me. Also is this your first time for a first grader?
Those moments that we sometimes miss because we have our heads deep in life’s other struggles are special.
College graduation and weddings of our children are more recent for me.
all the best

That’s so lovely. Print that out and tuck it away in his baby book. :)

Oh my gosh, that picture is so cute. And first grade is such a milestone! I still remember my first day of first grade. I had my own alarm clock and I was so excited to pick out my dress. Hope he has a great first day!

Aww.

I hope he enjoys first grade. My son is in second grade and so far he’s liking it. Though he’s all, “Mommy, we don’t have snack time anymore!”

The time does fly by so fast, before I know it he’ll be on his way to college. Oh man, why don’t I let him make it to first grade. LOL

I will have to print this out & Eileen I’ll be looking for those baby pics:)

It makes me want to swaddle and diaper my oldest every time I think about him turning ten in March. What a sweet baby!
