Brotherly Love

Brotherly love can be so fickle. One minute they are best buds. Then the next minute they are lobbing the “potty” language (as it’s known around these parts) at each other.

Apologies before bed were required for the elder boys. They had to make up for saying mean things. Apparently in calling each other names based on poo is the epitome of awesomeness in insults & kid comeback lines. And apologies are required when such a line has been tossed around because we can’t just let the poo fly, figuratively or literally in these parts.

However, part of me was concerned about the comments about poo for a totally different reason separate from the boys verbally jabbing one another. I just thought about them as older kids & realized that we can’t have them grow up only having “BIG FAT POO-POO” as their best insult or comeback. Instead I’m pretty sure this is another indication that we need to work on honing their social skills. Because I think we can do better with our poo one liners.

I think the same things sometimes when I hear the things my kids call each other. I mean just imagine them in high school saying, “oh yeah, well your a poopy-headed-dummy-face”

Oh, I don’t know. I think Big Fat Poo Poo is so much better than what I have heard grown up, supposedly educated adults call each other. In fact, if I called one of my kids a Big Fat Poo Poo head I’m willing to bet we would all be in stitches and that would be the end of the argument!

Thank you to anyone who emailed about the comment feature. Today my blog went wacky. I think it’s all taken care of now. Back to normal & working comments, I hope.

oh boy … that is NOTHING what my 6 and 4 year olds call each other.

I grew up without siblings so this is a whole new world for me, watching my kids relating to each other.

I think it’s great that they need to apologize.

My baby boy is 10 months old today. I knwo the time of Poo-Poo talk will come, so I am soaking it up that they still are so enamored with one another.

I regularly use the term ‘poopy head.’

I apparently never grew up.

Gotta love that brotherly love! As a Mom to two teenagers, I can totally relate……It will continue for years to come, although the terminology will change!
