We put up our Christmas tree this weekend.
We wait until the last weekend of Advent to put our tree up & we keep it up until January 6th or the Epiphany. We find that waiting allows us to focus more on the Advent season. We put up a real tree, Hubby would have it no other way & I also love the smell of a real tree. A real tree brings the scent of nature into the house. Of course everyone pitched in to help. Which meant we had lots of happy hands some a little too eager at times.
Our tree skirt, it can be a skirt for a tree or a cape for child as we found out when we put up the tree.
Wooden Garland.
Jolly Old St. Nicholas lean your ear this way…
Handmade glass blown ornament. We bought this from Bronner’s, we have many ornaments from them. Beautiful. It’s an adventure to go to Bronner’s.
I must admit that I love watching the kids help with the tree. Seeing their faces light up while helping reminds me of the beauty found in a childlike love of preparing for the upcoming Christmas season. I also love watching the lights on the tree twinkle in the dark of the room before I head off to bed, when all is silent and I contemplate my own anticipation of Christmas.

I love Christmas trees. They really make me feel joyful.

Definitely reminded me of my childhood memories when decorating the tree! Beautiful and awesome photography!
Just simply gorgeous.
Your tree is beautiful!
We just put ours up, too, though I think I will borrow your reason for waiting, since it sounds so much better than mine(which is that I was too lazy!!!)
Stopping by from SITS.
What a beautiful tree! When I was in my early 20s, we bought our first tree and I was so excited, I wanted to put it up. It was the first week of November. Everyone said, “You’ll be sick of it by Christmas,” but I didn’t believe them. I did get sick of it AFTER Christmas but I’m always that way. Once December 26th hits, I’m ready for it to be down. I think it’s a psychological thing…but most of the time it stays up until January 1st!
I love this post Beth! Gorgeous photos. I also love to watch my tree glow and sit in silence when the kids are in bed. It’s so peaceful and I even think of my own childhood Christmas memories. What’s crazy is that WE are making memories for OUR kids, and one day they will be sharing those traditions wiht their own…
Have a wonderful holiday!
xoxo
There is such a peace with the lights of a glowing tree. Just the thought of snuggling up under a warm blanket with a cup of tea and the tree lights shining – makes me feel all warm and fuzzy
I love that y’all celebrate Epiphany! We do, too. We have a fake tree, though, so it’s a bit easier to keep it around. Merry Christmas!
Love your blog. I stumbled upon it and have been following it for about a month now. Also, I love your tree
This year my family is tree-less because we have a curious 10 month old. We do have lights and a garland.
A gorgeous tree! I love the skirt.
You have some of the most BEAUTIFUL ornaments on your tree! That moon one is particularly gorgeous.
We put up a fake tree– and I do miss the smell. So I use scented oils around the house to try and make up for it. It doesn’t work, but it suffices
