I can say without a doubt that yesterday was a very good day. We went to the first Mass in the morning and after had a lovely breakfast, complete with a homemade sour cream coffee cake. After we unleashed the joys of Wii bowling as the Wii was for all the children (including Hubby). The children also had their stockings filled from jolly old St. Nick. For dinner there was a perfectly seared and then roasted iron skillet beef tenderloin with garlic smashed potatoes. After we all camped out in the living room for a family movie night. Really not that different than an old fashioned Rockwell Christmas minus the fact that there was no mistletoe, dancing, or fireplaces and the use of electronics. Other than that, it was like the exact same. But I was shocked to learn something new this Christmas. It turns out I am not as coordinated at bowling as my 3.5 year old daughter. Sad, very sad, so, so, very sad (did I mention that it was SAD!! AS IN PATHETICALLY SAD), but truly it is so true. But really Mamacita’s like a Wii bowling phenom, she has a gift, a talent. We’re wondering if there isn’t some sort of championship she could start training for with this thing. I mean there has to be something right? If not then I better start practicing more or be horribly embarrassed by my daughter every time we play as a family.

Sounds like a wonderful day!!
Sounds like a great day- and that Wii bowling cheats- that’s why when we play they let mama reset.
Yea…..my son, who is a bit older, but still defintitely a kidlet, rocks at wii bowling!! The wii was last years’ Christmas gift to the fam and this year my MIL gave Hubby the wii fit 2 or Plus or whatever its called….which I’m sure ALL of us will enjoy! Baby girl, aka Princess, loves the soccer balls and yoga from the first one, so she’s jut aching to check it out. Unfortunately, we’ve discovered that our beautiful Christmas tree is blocking the left sid eof the sensor and causes everything to be ‘off’. So, in a few more days, we’ll take the tree down and get to play. In the meantime, we enjoy its beauty and its glow!
Sounds like we had a similiar Christmas here. Hubby cooked prime rib and roasted garlic mashed potatoes and roasted asparagas for Christmas dinner. Mom and inlaws were here and it was holly jolly. Today, we enjoyed quiet family time as the clouds rolled over us and spilled some rain. We are all nursing a bug that ran through this house before Christmas….which we all tried to shake off through the festivities, but came back with a loud voice the day after.
And now, our Christmas tree is lit up before me, Hubby is playing a game, and the kidlets are sleeping and all I feel is….peace. Pretty great.
Merry Christmas!! :>
I love that you call them ‘smashed’ potatoes…I do, too!
I hear ya on the Wii bowling – Princess Nagger can get 4 strikes in a row… And she does it whilst jumping and dancing funny – I tried her ‘method’ and ended up with a Wii gutter ball. Very sad.
Sounds like the perfect Christmas Day!
Our nine year old is a whiz at all things video games. About three years ago, we had to set him with a handicap on the xbox or he just smeared us. Just writing that makes me feel ashamed.
Glad you had a great day!
I’m always afraid to play any video games with any child, they are always way better.
we play drunk bowling. well, not the kids but the parents do. This is how we feel better about our children kicking our butts.
We got a Wii for the family for Christmas too. But it was opened about a month early because someone, my husband, couldn’t wait a month to use it. I have to remind him he has to share it with everyone else.
That sounds like a wonderful day! How awesome! As for the bowling, you can take the stance my husband does everytime (and I mean every time) I beat him in boxing, “This stupid game cheats! It doesn’t keep track of my movements!” I know, I married a kid.
