Learning to Read
Mamacita and Mr G. are both learning to read. Mr. G is learning to recognize words. While Mamacita is in the earlier stages of “reading” a book, meaning she looks at the pictures & tries to tell a story based on the pictures in the book. She’s trying to understand the underlying meanings to words, & it’s darn cute. Especially when her stories involve dialogue. “Oh, what do we have here? A sugar bug? Better get the bug spray.” Let’s hope she realizes sugar bugs don’t require actual bug spray before she goes on to medical school–what am I pushing? Just because she reads books on the dentist and Dora going to the doctor doesn’t mean she’s going to medical school? Well, I think it just might.

My four year old liked the book “The Party” soo much she had it memorized. She would open it up and read it verbatim to her little friends, most of the time I didn’t mention the memorized part : ) And no she is not into “Party’s” … yet.

That’s great, I love when kids get the chance to show off their skills. Even if it’s memorized

Cuuuute! Don’t you just love their enthusiasm at that age?

I know, if only we were all able to keep that enthusiasm through out our lives.

She’s adorable. My boys love body books. Get her a few of those and start saving for med school!

Oh, we have a few that are just fab on the body too. She does seem to enjoy those quite a bit, but I’m always looking to add to that collection.

Just loved this post… coming from SITS. Random, but are you going to Bloggy Boot Camp in Baltimore?

Thanks for coming
I wish I were going to Baltimore but I’m not, I’m hoping that I might get the chance to attend more blogging events in the future. It seems like everyone talks about how great they are. I’m guessing you are going? Maybe you can fill me (and other inquiring minds) on what it is like after you go!

Every time one of mine learned to read was just as exciting as the one before! What a wonderful gift to give them the love of reading.
