Michigan Bread & Butter Pickles

I have had a mad hankering for Bread & Butter Pickles, for like the last year.  I don’t know why but there is something about the sweet & tangy flavor that I can’t stop eating them. Nothing beats the crunch factor.

When we were at Costco doing some shopping they had out the usual array of food samples.  Really, I am thinking that instead of feeding the kids lunch on the weekends we just go and eat all the samples there because man they lay out a spread.  While we were making our way through the sample bonanza. I saw these Old Fashioned Bread & Butter Pickles from Safies Specialty Foods. And of course I could not resist trying some.  Given my new found addiction I thought one wouldn’t hurt, not to mention they are made here in Michigan.  I tried to resist but really it was no good.  I couldn’t.  So I bought a jar.

And then of course I had to eat a few.  Then eat some more, then some more & some more. They have that tangy crunch that means I can’t just eat one.  Plus, it would make the others feel bad.  I think I may need to have a Bread & Butter Pickle intervention at this point.   But I’m going to claim this is all for the good of our local economy.  I mean if I don’t eat these, I can’t buy more, if I don’t buy more, then I am not helping the economy.  See this is all for the greater good.

OH I love pickles! All kinds of pickles! But I too have been on the sweet bread and butter kick as of late. Great minds!

I think these are pretty close to some my husband’s Aunt brought over to a family gathering once, those were amazing & homemade.

Bread & Butter Pickles are my favorites. I love em on a cheeseburger! I may have to invest in some also to help your Michigan economy, which I understand is not doing great right now. My first day to follow your blog. I am searching for some humor – I need to laugh more. Life can get pretty serious!

Yea, we’ve been struggling here but we’ll get through it. Resilience is part of our spirit & hey the pickles can only help as we are getting through right? Well & they are yummy.

I adore bread and butter pickles and have even made them in the past. My kids only like dill pickles, so that’s pretty much what I buy. Now I have a hankering too….

Dill are good, I remember being a big fan of those as a kid as I’ve aged though it’s been bread & butter all the way. Hankerings are also contagious.

I’m such a fan of bread & butter pickles, now you’ve got me craving these! No Costco up here in the North Country, but I’m going to hunt down this brand for sure. Thanks for sharing!

Yea, we got lucky having one here because I don’t know if I’d make a drive to Costco. But the company is in Macomb County so I’m sure they have some throughout stores in MI.

I’ve never tried them but my, they look delicious and would add something to my boring old sandwiches. I wonder if you can get them in Scotland?

They are good to add to sandwiches, if you can’t find these I hope you can find something similar :)
