No worries or cares in the world, just chillin’ out. Wonder if my family provided any entertainment while he was resting? I mean after all my kids were running around Colonial Michlimackinac checking out everything from top to bottom & couldn’t contain their excitement at all things late 1700s.
You know back when you had like one pair of shoes & wore them until you, like, DIED!! Screw you fancy fashion magazine & all your new shoes for the summer season, this is hardcore shoe living. I’m practically a colonial girl myself since I NEVER get to buy any shoes for ME. Instead I’ve done the “Mom” thing, I buy for the kids. I’m often found staring (OK, glaring) at other women who have shoes to go with ever single outfit. I mean EVERY.SINGLE.OUTFIT.
I think I might do better in the colonial times for fashion. Although during all the excitement & my longing for a time machine that would allow me to feel ahead in style for about 10 minutes, until I realized there was all that pesky hard work & nonstop fear of dying from the elements, Mr. G. stopped long enough to focus on this little one among the flowers. He then had me (read that as he MADE me, “please, please, please!!!”) take a picture. I couldn’t say no, I mean he said “please, please, please!!!” Even if he does make it so I can’t treat myself to shoes every second of every hour, he is pretty damn cute.

I often drool over other’s shoes too. I love being a mom, I love being a mom, I love being a mom… maybe if I tell myself this long enough I’ll feel less annoyed that my last shoe purchase wasn’t for myself.
I miss having a closet full of shoes too! Oh wait, I never actually HAD a closet full but now I have even less. Ah well! I am DETERMINED to get at least one new pair this summer.
(P.S. I’m a fellow Thesis blogger- I LOVE it when I find another Thesis gal!)
I have friends that have millions of shoes. Sometimes I miss those days. Now I am happy just buying sneakers for my baby : ) and for his friends that are in need : ) Someday I will have pretty shoes again!
I think your flower picture is gorgeous!
Hardy har har har! I am definetly simple when it comes to fashion.
As long as I have flip flops and running shoes – and air conditioning in the summer, I’m pretty good.
But actually surviving the frontier…
1. corsets
2. no indor plumbing
3. gonna go ahead and say it – lack of discreet feminine products
4. no indoor plumbing
5. “you eat what you kill” and in reverse, too.
The colonial days are a delight to study simply so I can appreciate that I have no need to wear a corset (though spanx sometimes make me curse), I have indoor plumbing AND toilet paper, my meat comes from the grocery store or a few deer and I really don’t think a bear mauling will take me out any time soon.
I don’t have a lot of shoes. I used to but those days are over. Love your blog.
