Saturday night my Hubby took me out for dinner, thanks to my lovely sister-in-law who gave the gift of babysitting. We had a charcuterie platter anytime dinner involves a platter of meat the person taking you increases in awesomeness in my book. It was really, really good. After we went out to Pronto, in Royal Oak, which has some of the BEST.CAKES.EVER. We got our dessert on. Because I wanted cake! I needed cake.
And this was my one piece of cake, the Alpine Lace Diva. It was more like an entire cake. The leftovers were well enjoyed today (err, morning–hey it was my birthday! I indulged).
I’m pretty sure that this is what Heaven looks like in cake form. It also tasted like a perfect creation. Silky, smooth & beyond amazing. Even with the shaky camera work of my Blackberry after I had indulged in a couple celebratory drinks with dinner, it looks pretty good. I’m thinking maybe this should be a yearly treat.
In fact, today has been a really nice day. The kids gave me homemade cards & we just chilled out as a family. It was nice. I’m sneaking a couple minutes now as the kids start to sink into bed after being all tucked in. I’m blessed to have a beautiful family, this I know. Without them those things I want to accomplish would be hallow, because I really DO believe that at the end of my life it will be the love shared that will matter not where I’ve traveled. Even if I am totally neurotic (hello! I’m beyond totally neurotic, I can’t even let my food touch!) I don’t take a minute with them for granted.
Also, THANK YOU EVERYONE for sharing with so many wonderful birthday wishes!! It really meant a lot to me!

Thanks for visiting my blog and Happy Birthday! I am 65 and it is an absolutely fantastic age to be! Your kids are grown up and your life is now absolutely your own. You have life and yourself figured our enough so that you don’t have to think about it any more. And you probably have 30 more years to accomplish what you didn’t have time to accomplish yet. You’re still a kid. Stop worrying.

Wow! I want some of that! That looks amazing! I LOVE cake, too much, because I could eat a piece (or three) every day. I know, that’s crazy!
It’s amazing. We had it for the first time a few ago & I haven’t ordered it since. But I figured it was my birthday & I was going wild.
