Only in Frills

She eats in ball gowns.  She bakes in them. She wants to ride her bike in them.  She hikes her skirt up & climbs the rock wall in the yard.  All the time I worry “What out!  You need to be careful!”  But on she goes.

The dresses are ragged within hours of her playing.  She plays hard in them, but loves being in frills.  She’s a diva.  A real fashion diva, ragged edges & all.  I don’t know what I’m going to do when she’s a teenager, fashion divas plus teens equal money pit.  It’s, like, a mathematical law.   She’s going to diva dress me out of house & home.

This made the song “I Feel Pretty” from West Side Story pop into my head. I think it’s awesome, but I also don’t have to pay for it. ;-)

LOL, I think she’d walk around singing that if she knew it. Maybe it’s time to teach her the lyrics :)

My eldest was exactly like this. Start them early at Value Village/ Salvation Army. There are always beautiful gowns there that have only been worn once or twice. My eldest is a frugal fashionista now who gets a kick out of a great deal! Good Luck. After about age nine, she would only wear jeans…

I love, love, love Value Village/Salvation Army/St. Vincent’s great places for good finds. Around here you have to be quick though, since there are a lot of “vintage” shops that swoop in (I guess “vintage” sounds fancier than used). But you’re right it’s NEVER too early to start with the lessons on getting great deals–I’m thinking she’s ready. Oh, man is my Mamacita ready. Now let’s hope she doesn’t break the frugal resale shop bank ;)

It is fun & your boys in the super hero costumes is adorable!!

My second usually runs around in a black cape, it’s left over from his Star Wars Darth Vader costume 2 years ago. Sometimes his sister will try to take it & add it to her dresses, chaos ensues LOL :)

I love it. A girl after my own heart. I would wear pretty dresses everyday too if I wouldn’t get stared at for it.

I know why can’t we dress up like this? If I went out like this I’d end up featured on some website as a nutty lady in a princess dress but she does it & it’s the cutest thing EVER.
