The Long Hair

by beth on August 9, 2010

He is my only baby to have this much hair before 18 months.  We haven’t been ready to cut it.  I’m not sure I’m ready still, Hubby isn’t sure he is ready, I think even the older rabble-rousers aren’t sure if they’re ready.  When we cut it feels like he won’t be such a baby anymore. But we’re talking about *when* as in maybe this month. I’m going to be one hot mess when the first snip happens.  Hold me.

Oh he’s so cute!! That first snip is so very hard, but just think of how cute he’ll be with a little haircut!

Stopping by from SITS!

It is hard, you’d think since I have been through this before it would be easier but his locks are so cute.

Sitsgal. Abby’s hair grew ultra fast like mine, her first haircut was at 16 months. I thought it was too soon, but it was getting so she couldn’t see so well. You know, she had that super model thing where hair started falling in one eye and they brush it back? Even the church was like ‘you need to give her a haircut.

Yeah, that first snip is tough, Abby’s gone through two haircuts at over slightly two years. But they get so much cuter when you can see their face again!^^

Wow!!! 2 haircuts already, I don’t think any of my older kids had 2 haircuts in 3 years. Because they had so little hair. I’m jealous ;)

What a cutie! I love the long locks too. Winter is coming (too quickly) I’d let him go until his 2nd birthday. The hair is gorgeous but he still looks like a boy to me. If he looked like a little girl I’d say cut it but he is all boy. And that doesn’t happen to be a Detroit Tiger t-shirt on him does it? :)

Why Dawn, Yes! Yes, it is a Detroit Tiger t-shirt :) Gotta represent & I’m liking your thought process on waiting.

Dealing with this VERY same thing. We DID cut his very long hair and regretted it the moment it was done. It’s grown out now and back to being long and having strangers call him a princess!! You can’t help it if you have a cute kiddo!! I’m not ready to give him a corporate cut yet. He has his whole life to have man hair. I’d let it go until you are absolutely ready. I’m just sayin. :)

Oh, I didn’t even think about the corporate cut. Now I’m definitely feeling like he needs more time.

Listen to yourself and decide what to do. If cutting is going to make you a hot mess, then don’t. He’s a tiny peanut. He is beautiful. When it feels right, do it. Until then, just keep snapping gorgeous photos of that sweet face.

Oh, thank you Elizabeth :) Sometimes listening to myself is easier said than done, I need to work on the DONE part!

I have twin 19m old girls, they’re #3 and 4, and I’m going through the same thing. They’re girls, so I “can” wait longer, but.. we’re starting to have a hard time seeing their face/eyes for all the hair. The first two took FOREVER to grow hair — it’s totally new to have to ponder it already. It sounds like you’d like some more time… take it. You can always talk/laugh later on about how lllllooooonnnnggg you let him go w/o a haircut. Who knows.. maybe he’ll want it long again later (when all you’ll want is for it to be neat and out of his face!).
