Doughnut Cookies

I really think these Doughnut Cookies from Williams-Sonoma are an adorable idea and perfect for a party.  Although I am not sure I could afford the price tag.  Given that budgets are budgets and mine has limited cookie shopping money available. Which I know, is just silly! Since everyone knows buying cookies is way more important than ANY other bill.  But still I do love how cute they are.

I am also thinking that if one is motivated they could easily make these making a batch of sugar cookies using a simple recipe.  Before baking the cookies, divide the batch equally into maybe 4 {or more} different sections and you could also flavor each smaller group differently making a variety of unique “doughnuts” {e.g. one with lemon extract, one with maple extract, one with coconut etc…}. Shape into circles, cut out the center after you bake them and then decorate.

Once they are all decorated simply serve at the gathering of choice. You could even find a box, the kind a dozen doughnuts would come in, and have that box as part of creating the doughnut theme.  Or you could just buy them if you have the extra dough laying around.

Get it dough?
