Mamacita had her dance recital this weekend. It was so sweet to watch the kids as they performed their dances and if you have ever seen the under 6 crowd dance it is absolutely adorable, even their missteps are adorable. And Mamacita was beaming as she dance, she radiated her smile out to the crowd. She truly did her best and had fun while doing so.
In fact, as I sat there in the audience I was reminded that the last part “she did her best and had fun” was a lesson for all the adults in the room. A lesson I need a reminder in regularly, just as much as those around me probably need it to. A lesson that I believe is so easy to forget with unrealistic social pressure we feel baring down upon us regularly to always be the best and not simply be our best that robs us of the fun in life.
I wonder how much happier would we be as adults if we remembered to be like our children. If we remembered to live joyfully, live in the moment and quickly forgive the small missteps someone makes in an honest effort to do their best. And to dance like the world is watching you but you don’t care.

I absolutely love this post. And that’s a lesson, I needed to hear today. So, thank you for reminding me to live in the moment.
I’m so glad she had fun. And how many times have we said to our kids, “Just do your best and have fun?” Then we completely ignore the advice. Being a grown up is so sad sometimes.
