Simple Things

Grateful for the time to take in the silence of the trees being rustled by the wind.  For the light coming through branches.  For the days that become shorter before they grow in length again. For the trails of laughter as kids jump into piles of crunchy leaves. For warm cider, long talks and cuddling around a good book.

For the small moments and small things in my life.

Not perfect. Not always lined up in a row. But soul crushingly beautiful in their own small ways.

Requiescant In Pace

Again we come upon All Saints & All Souls Day the days after All Hallow’s Eve.

As I have written before I love these days, when we take a special focus in our lives as Catholics to remember and pray for all of those souls who have gone before us. I know that our families and friends are remembered year round, but the special focus of all the Saints and all the Souls reminds me of how we are all connected, bonded in the Communion of Saints, and death is not our end but part of our journey.

It Was Spooktacular!

We had a wonderful Halloween. We spent the day learning about the history of Halloween, having a mini-Halloween party, watching The Nightmare Before Christmas {one of our favorites here at casa de confusion!} and then the kids got all ready in their costumes.

On a side note our ninjas changed their minds on the day of costume picking. Instead of 3 ninjas we had a Jango Fett, Swat team member & a mini Buzz Lightyear along with Cinderella & a little kitty cat {who did not want to keep her costume on}.

During trick or treating I kept trying to get D-man to say the words dark & spooky. Because when he says them he pretends to shiver & say “DAAARRK! POOKEY!” with his hands up to his face, giggling like a manic afterward. After trick or treating, with family, we all went out for dinner. I am pretty sure the kids thought it was practically the best.day.ever! And now starts the “Can I have some candy now? How about now? What about now? And now?” questions.
