Everyone keeps asking if the kids are getting a snow day today. Well there is snow & it is a day so I guess technically it’s a “snow day”. But no, they won’t get a day free of doing any fancy book learnin’.
Big reason is they do better with a consistent routine & when they have a few set activities to complete daily. Even if they weren’t homeschooled I’d plan a few activities for them to help them keep from climbing the walls & in turn making ME climb the walls.
However, what I want to know is with all this snow day talk why doesn’t anybody ever ask if MOM will get a snow day?
You know why they don’t ask? Because they know Moms don’t get snow days or days off, ever. It’s a dirty secret that no one speaks of before kids arrive.
As a Mom we’re always on. Snow or not.

D-man is learning all kinds of words and picking up language development at record speed. However, the rapid pace hasn’t always left him knowing when or how to use certain words. Particularly when older siblings laugh like hysterical hyenas every time he says something they’ve deemed HA-LARIOUS!
Case in point the word Butt yesterday. He learned it after hearing “It’s so cold, you’ll freeze your butt off.”
What happened the rest of the day after he repeated butt and got laughter (read in his toddler mind total & utter approval from his brothers & sister for using the word butt) he wouldn’t stop saying it anytime they were in earshot.
Mommy leans over and asks about the car he is playing with. He smiles, giggles and says “BUTT!! BUTT CAR!!”
Older children all fall down laughing. D-man smiles proudly having made everyone laugh.
Mommy asks D-man if wants more in his cup. He smiles, giggles and says “BUTT!! BUTT JUICE!!”
Older children sequel in delight, fall on the ground unable to stop laughing & D-man claps at their joy. Again he has triumphed.
And on & on & on…& on & on & on…
Turns out butts rule kid world. And my toddler has shown, yet again, he knows where the money & laughs are, here it’s potty language. Great.
I’m trying to see the bright side, at least he’s learning to talk.

I don’t know why but as I was gazing through the tubes of the internet these Heart-Shaped Fry Rings made me break into a school girl giggle. Something about making food into different shapes always makes me feel like a giddy kid & suddenly all loving at the same time.
Weird.
But delicious.
Do you ever make food into fun shapes? Holiday themed egg madness?
*Via Williams-Sonoma because I like it, that’s the only reason why*

After fishing a hand towel & washcloth out of the toilet before my one highly valued cup of coffee AND before I had fully wiped the sleep from eyes I began to wish for Spring. Spring flowers make me smile. That’s all.
While towels in the toilet after having a plumber out on Sunday don’t. Not one little bit.
