Somehow Halloween has come & gone already.
It was D-man’s first Halloween. He seemed mostly interested in the pumpkins, everything else did not impress him. Granted we do a pretty tame Halloween, but still he barely batted an eye until he got near freshly carved Jack O’Lanterns.

My firstborn had to try to make his scarey & felt he needed hair it looks kinda like he drew a toupe on his guy. And let’s be honest toupes can be downright frightening.
The other kids decided happy and au naturale was better. And be real, au naturale puts a smile on lots of faces. Just remember that Halloween pin up & how wide her Jack O’Lantern was smiling.
Then D-man noticed them lined and up and made a beeline for them.

You can almost see him thinking, “Hmmm…what’s this? Can I eat it?” The kid tries to eat everything right now, except any actual food we offer him. It’s like some cosmic joke.

And then you see him realize that I’ve caught him on camera. He’s so busted, no sneaking a bite. I just love that “Who me??? I wasn’t doing anything.” look.
Overall, everyone had a great Halloween night. Low key & spent with family, building on our own little family traditions. We went this year to the Detroit Zoo for a trick or treat walk. The zoo is cool at night, they decorate it with wonderful displays and lights.
One of the big hits with the kid’s was this Where the Wild Things Are display. There’s King Max!

And there’s something mysterious about being out after dark, walking around while feeling the breeze & hearing the animals rustle. Plus, there is candy & some of it is CHOCOLATE!! I would walk through wild animals to get chocolate & really walking with ravenous kids who are excited to get candy on Halloween is kind of like that.
